MY APPROACH TO PHOTOGRAPHING PEOPLE

Weddings... Photographing a wedding is quite a task.. it has it's own unique but very substantial pressure and challenges, coupled with a very wide set of skills required. The need to be highly focused, energetic and positive, gain everyone's confidence, have the ability to create atmosphere and great rapport are just some of the 'non technical skills' required.

I don't believe a photographer should be agressively assertive, as I hear from clients' experiences that some are... especially at weddings. Enthusiastic communication, good organizational skills and manners are very effective I find.

One of the most important ingredient is having good rapport with my clients, which begins when we first meet and decide to become partners for your day... If I don't feel we are on the same plane, I don't like to take on the job.. Then, I'm very big on planning & communication prior to and leading up to the event.

Portraiture... Natural light is my preference, nothing like the beach or park for couples, families... Or a soft window light spot in a comfortable & familiar environment for baby or young child.

I come to you, distance is not an issue as long as it's metro Melbourne. A photoshoot can take anywhere up to 2 hours depending on the number of people involved. It's weather dependant of course, if on an outside location, sometimes we need to be flexible with timing, making the most of it rather than just fitting into a schedule.

My approach is to create natural activities, moments, inspire a bit of fun, engage people how ever I can.. However, it's important for you to give me a clear idea of what you think you want first, this will dictate location and my approach to some extent.
